Artist's Description
This piece contains two quotations: one from the book Reader by Bernhard, which reads "The tectonic layers of our lives rest so tightly one on the top of the other that we always come up against eariler events in later ones, not as matter that has been fully formed and pushed aside but absolutely present and alive". The other quote, which I have lettered many times is by Kahlil Gibran and reads: "Remembrance is a form of meeting". This piece is about how we live in our minds where memories continue to grow and the remembering of them changes today's reality. I used beans, beads and sand on this to develope the texture. It is always a suprise as to how it will turn out.

Lettering Art by Sid Freeman �After 20 years as a professional calligrapher, I found myself competing with the computer. This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy. With the help of the Wyoming Arts Council grant money she began to study with many incredible professionals as well as taking workshops from the Colorado Calligraphers� Guild.
