Everyone knows this song; yea, it�s Row Your Boat. I�m sorry I don�t know who wrote it. If you do, please tell me, because I want to give them credit. I really wanted to make this painting playable. The squares (16) are 3 X 4 are to show that it is in � time. A whole note takes up 3 horizontal squares, that is, a letter 3 spaces wide is three beats. Two for two and one for one. These notes are in the same place on the 3 X 4 squares that they would be on a regular scale. A whole top square represents the note �E�, the line between the square would carry a �D� note and so forth. But, because it would be redundant to name the notes by both their spacing and alphabetical names, I used the same spaces and wrote the word �melody� instead. The four �pin-wheels� are the lyrics and the voice in the rounds. Rhythm in the water and the sky adds the beat. The boat is just for fun. All in all; a simple little song is far from being simple at all and I have missed...

This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy.
