I have been thinking alot about the illusion of stillness. Everything is moving and effecting everything else. Atoms, molecules, cells and everytime we touch anything the material of that thing becomes part of us as its atoms move into the empty spaces of our atoms. It's only the things which we think are the most important that we focus on, that we name with words. Insufficient labels. But, none of this ceases its motion, nothing is still. The quote in this painting came from a rereading of a little book by Ezra Pound and Fenollosa. "Motion leaks everywhere like electricity from an exposed wire". After trying to find out what made lightning (having: heat, cool, wet, dry, negative particals, positive particals effected by the magnetic fields around this marvelous planet) was when, I began to believe what this quote means. We simply call it "lightning", but it is a sum of parts, a group project that makes something elegant, terrifing, magical, dangerous and even useful. How luc...

Lettering Art by Sid Freeman �After 20 years as a professional calligrapher, I found myself competing with the computer. This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy. With the help of the Wyoming Arts Council grant money she began to study with many incredible professionals as well as taking workshops from the Colorado Calligraphers� Guild.
