Artist's Description
�Tide to the Moon� is also a 5�X 7� solar etching like Rain Dance. This technique has been used commercially by printers and newspapers for years. A drawing is copied onto a transparent plastic sheet and laid over a steel plate coated in a ultraviolet sensitive plastic. Depending on the quality of the drawing (less time for grays) it will be exposed to the sun (not acid) for approx. 1 � minutes. Then it will be washed with water (yea! � no mineral spirits) so the covered or black areas will go down the drain. The uncovered areas will be hardened by the sun even farther when the washed plate is left out in the sun for 3 to 4 minutes. A great boost for chemically sensitive people. Then it is inked and run through a press just like an etching. �Tide to the Moon� only includes two words, moon and earth. And is also a limited edition of four. This original here is #1. Lettering Art by Sid Freeman �After 20 years as a professional calligrapher, I found myself competing with the computer. This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy.
