Thanks Nandika - This is an oldie but a goodie. For me it's about respect. I went to your site and find your work fascinating. Are you a Yogi? I am trying to learn to meditate myself , I'm not very good at it. So much to learn, so little time. Take care, Sid

Sid Freeman replied:

Hi Pauline, Thank you so much for you lovely comment. This has been my "lucky print"; maybe because it's about what we all have in common. I hope so. Take care, Sid

Artist's Description

This painting has 10 quotations from ten different world views including Hindu, Taoism, Islam, Native American, Confucianism, Buddhism, Christian, cause & effect (scientific), pragmatism and Toltem. All the quotes a contained in the structure of the "Tree of Life" from the Kabbalah, a Jewish Mystic text. This structure displays the ten qualities of God represented by Hebrew letters. I believe that this painting is about respect for all peoples in their quest for meaning.

This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech. Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy. With the help of the Wyoming Arts Council grant money she began to study with many incredible professionals as well as taking workshops from the Colorado Calligraphers Guild. In 1987 she became self employed and enjoyed doing great jobs like the Wyoming Governors Awards and Federal Marshals Proclamations. In 1993 she and her husband,...
