Artist's Description

What�s a mother to do? I seemed to have lost control of this one. Part of my Wordscape Series this piece only includes three words (snow, ice & willow). Maybe I lost my original intentions because I was working on a �snow scene� in the middle of a hot Arizona drought. It was the plains between Wyoming and Colorado covered with a blanket of snow with those beautiful orange and violet willows popping up to greet us on our way to a ski holiday; that I was my inspiration. So the painting had a mind of its own and the best I could do was stand back and see what it wanted to do. It took on a sort of �love/hate� dance.
Sometimes paintings just paint themselves. The hard part is letting them. Tell me what you think.

Lettering Art by Sid Freeman �After 20 years as a professional calligrapher, I found myself competing with the computer. This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy. With the help of the Wyoming Arts Council grant money she began to study with many incredible professionals as well as taking workshops from the Colorado Calligraphers� Guild. In 1987 she became self employed and enjoyed doing great jobs like the Wyoming Governor�s Awards and Federal Marshal�s Proclamations. In 1993 she and her husband,...
