Artist's Description
This piece almost went in the trash twice. One of those "tear your hair out" paintings. The quote from Marcelle Cahn is "She dreams as she is, is as she dreams". I wanted to call it "Always the Sky is Between You and I". This was from Yung and Borges talking about our double selves. Public and private. But, I wanted to include the sky (space) that we have within ourselves - do we really know who we are. Then there is the measured space within each atom; that's sky within. Maybe that's why this painting was difficult, because trying to reconcile 4 layers - mountain, sky, landscape and figure just made too much sky. So after changing a day scene into night and then encouragment of a friend, I kept painting. And yes, I truly don't know what I was doing. Do we know what we are dreaming - being. What do you think?
