In this painting I had fun with the �fish�. Again I am working with words doing their meaning. The words are: rocks, current, fish and waves. I am in a quandary as to if I am automating or cartooning the words rather than actually getting at their meaning. After all, does a fish really mean a funny grumpy stylistic symbol by a self indulgent painter like me. Or is it more seriously an integral part of the world�s marvelous life and sustaining ecology. And maybe this is where I move to another painting. Of course one has to be careful to keep from taking themselves to seriously and have fun as well. What do you think? Thank you for looking.

Lettering Art by Sid Freeman �After 20 years as a professional calligrapher, I found myself competing with the computer. This was not fun and slowly I worked back to my roots as a painter only this time using those magical sound symbols which make up our speech.� Receiving her MFA from the University of Wyoming and then working in advertising Sid Freeman became enamored with calligraphy. With the help of the Wyoming Arts Council grant money she began to study with many incredible professionals as well as taking workshops from the Colorado Calligraphers� Guild.
